Job summary

Bixal Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Staff Platform Engineer to be the senior technical authority for a government agency's internal developer platform.

You will own target-state architecture, golden paths, and engineering standards that enable secure, compliant infrastructure for production by engineering teams. You will work in a DevSecOps environment (GitLab, Datadog) with platform-as-product thinking and AI-assisted tooling to reduce friction in the developer journey.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and at least eight years of related experience.
• Design and evolve internal platforms for faster, safer delivery.
• Deep expertise in infrastructure automation and secure provisioning.
• Standardize observability and release controls across applications.
• Hands-on platform leadership, setting standards and driving adoption.
• Experience with GitLab, Jira, Confluence, Datadog, and Terraform-based IaC.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Tier 4 High Risk Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Own target-state platform architecture and engineering standards.
• Provide technical direction to the Platform Enablement team.
• Design internal platform capabilities to improve delivery speed and reliability.
• Establish automation, delivery pipelines, and secure provisioning patterns.
• Standardize observability and environment consistency across apps.
• Build self-service platform capabilities and reusable patterns.
• Lead by example, prevent fragmentation, and drive platform adoption.
• Coordinate with Product Owner on platform roadmap and priorities.
• Participate in two-week sprints, architecture reviews, and knowledge-sharing.
