Job summary

MITRE Mission Computing is seeking a Platform Engineer to own and evolve the foundational systems enabling critical national security work. This role focuses on Kubernetes platform engineering and cloud infrastructure, ensuring reliability and security of compute platforms for engineering, research, and sponsors.

You’ll work in a high-stakes environment with CMMC compliance, multi‑cluster architectures, and GitOps-driven pipelines.

Qualifications

• 5 years of professional software engineering experience with Kubernetes platforms or equivalent internal platform infrastructure.
• Strong cloud infrastructure experience (AWS, GovCloud or other regulated environments).
• Experience with multi-cluster, multi-tenant, hybrid-cloud Kubernetes architectures.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code and GitOps practices.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines integrated with IaC and GitOps workflows.
• Ability to build reliable, secure compute platforms used by engineering teams.
• Experience with incident management and on-call rotations.
• Experience with compliance requirements (CMMC, FedRAMP or similar).
• Strong communication to guide engineering teams on platform best practices.
• Experience operating mixed Linux and Windows environments at scale.
• Experience monitoring/observability stacks and incident management integrations.
