Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own the compute platform that powers our services. You will design and ship tooling, automation, and new capabilities enabling hundreds of engineers to deploy and operate critical services at scale.

You will work with Security, Reliability, and Observability teams to raise the bar across the stack while leveraging CNCF tools like Helm, Prometheus, and ArgoCD. The role emphasizes responsible AI tooling in infrastructure workflows.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• 3+ years building and operating Kubernetes or similar systems (e.g., Mesos, Nomad, ECS).
• Proficiency in Go, Python or Java with production-grade infra experience.
• Hands-on with AWS and/or GCP in production at scale.
• Design and operate distributed infrastructure systems with root-cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Own design, build, and operation of Kubernetes cluster management tooling and automation.
• Build developer-facing tooling to interact with Kubernetes, integrating AI-driven processes.
• Deliver compute capabilities like one-off jobs, cron scheduling, deployment strategies, and right-sizing.
• Automate toil, reduce on-call burden, improve observability and incident response.
• Collaborate with Security, Reliability, and Observability to meet standards.
