Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Compute Platform, owning the orchestration infrastructure used by hundreds of engineers. You will design and ship tooling to deploy and operate services at scale, with close collaboration across Security, Reliability, and Observability teams.

You will work with Kubernetes-centric tooling (Kubernetes, EKS, Istio) and CNCF ecosystem components, applying AI-assisted automation to improve developer productivity and platform reliability.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• 3+ years building and operating Kubernetes or similar compute orchestration systems.
• Production-grade infrastructure services experience (AWS/GCP).
• Experience designing and operating distributed infrastructure systems.
• Experience with CNCF tools (Helm, Prometheus, ArgoCD, Envoy).
• Ability to apply AI tooling to infrastructure workflows and improve automation.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, build, and operation of Kubernetes cluster management tooling and automation to keep compute platform reliable and self-healing.
• Build developer-facing tooling and workflows to improve interaction with Kubernetes, with AI-driven processes.
• Deliver net-new compute capabilities for service owners (e.g., one-off jobs, cron scheduling, deployment strategies, EFS support, right-sizing).
• Drive operational excellence by automating toil, reducing on-call burden, and improving observability and incident response.
• Partner with Security, Reliability, and Observability teams to meet Coinbase standards for security, uptime, and performance.
