Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Compute Platform team. You will own Kubernetes-based compute orchestration tooling, build AI-enhanced developer workflows, and deliver scalable compute capabilities to support hundreds of engineers across Coinbase's product stack.

You will collaborate with Security, Reliability, and Observability to ensure security, uptime, and performance while continuously improving platform efficiency and reducing toil in a remote-first,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years building and operating Kubernetes or similar compute orchestration systems.
• Proficiency in one or more programming languages (Go, Python, Java) with experience building production-grade infrastructure services.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and/or GCP infrastructure services (EC2, EKS, IAM, VPC) in production at scale.
• Experience designing, implementing, and operating distributed infrastructure systems with root-cause resolution.
• Hands-on experience with CNCF tools (Helm, Prometheus, ArgoCD, Envoy) and applying them to real infra problems.
• Ability to apply AI tooling to infrastructure workflows to improve automation and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, build, and operation of Kubernetes cluster management tooling and automation for a scalable compute platform.
• Build developer-facing tooling and workflows, with AI-driven processes to aid engineers across Coinbase.
• Deliver new compute capabilities like one-off jobs, cron scheduling, deployment strategies, and right-sizing.
• Automate toil, reduce on-call burden, and improve platform observability and incident response.
• Partner with Security, Reliability, and Observability to meet Coinbase's security and performance standards.
