Job summary

American Family Insurance Agency Staff is seeking an experienced Cloud Platform & DevOpsEngineer to design, build, and operate cloud capabilities across AWS and GCP. The role focuses on Kubernetes, IaC, CI/CD, and automation to deliver reliable, scalable platforms for developers.

The candidate should have strong Backstage experience and be able to customize plugins, catalogs, and scaffolder templates to fit team needs. Collaboration with security, SRE, and software teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, building and operating an internal developer portal (preferably Backstage.io).
• Desire to improve developer experience via self-service tools and streamlined workflows.
• Experience creating Backstage plugins (TS/Node/React) for developer customization.
• Experience configuring Backstage Software Catalog for unified views of services and tooling.
• Ability to create software templates with Backstage Scaffolder to standardize projects.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and operate cloud platform capabilities across AWS and GCP.
• Develop Kubernetes and IaC foundations to enable reliable, secure delivery.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation for engineering teams.
• Drive observability and operational excellence via monitoring and SRE practices.
