Job summary
Sunflower Bank, N.A. seeks a highly experienced Principal Platform Engineer to define the technology vision for Platform Engineering and to lead the Internal Developer Platform (IDP) and shared services.
You will drive automation, observability, security guardrails, and scalable infrastructure to support enterprise banking capabilities. You will partner with Architecture, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, and Operations teams to modernize the technology estate, improve delivery speed, reliability,
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of progressive software engineering, infrastructure engineering, or platform engineering experience.
- 5+ years leading large-scale engineering initiatives or technical programs.
- Demonstrated experience designing, operating, measuring, and continuously improving enterprise platform services.
- Deep understanding of Platform Engineering, Developer Experience, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, Cloud Platforms, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD Automation, Observability.
Responsibilities
- Define and execute a multi-year Platform Engineering roadmap aligned to business strategy and IT modernization.
- Establish secure-by-design engineering golden paths enabling rapid, auditable deployment.
- Build reusable platform capabilities to reduce duplication and improve consistency.
- Create policy-governed self-service experiences for provisioning environments and services.
- Drive platform product management, adoption strategies, and customer feedback loops.
- Partner with Architecture, Security, and Data teams to modernize the technology estate.
