Vultr seeks a Senior Platform Engineer to own and evolve our DNS infrastructure, including recursive, reverse, and authoritative DNS, and to drive modernization of the DNS API in PHP, with possible Go or Rust updates. You will work across engineering teams to diagnose incidents and improve platform reliability.

The role emphasizes hands-on ownership, automation, and observability using Grafana, Loki, and Mimir, in a high-growth cloud infrastructure environment.

Qualifications

• Extensive DNS infrastructure experience with scalable systems.
• Strong Linux and networking fundamentals.
• Ability to own complex internal services end-to-end.

Responsibilities

• Own and operate Vultr’s DNS infrastructure at scale, including recursive, reverse, and authoritative DNS.
• Maintain and evolve the PHP-based DNS API; potential Go or Rust modernization.
• Diagnose and resolve complex DNS/network incidents as SME.
• Drive automation and IaC across platform services to reduce toil.
• Collaborate with network and infra teams on adjacent systems and tooling.
• Improve observability using Grafana, Loki, and Mimir.
