Job summary

Optimum Communications Inc. seeks a Senior DNS Engineer - SRE to own the strategic architecture and reliability of our global DNS infrastructure powering massive user bases.

You will lead cross-functional initiatives with Product, Security, and Service Assurance to design scalable, secure, and compliant name services. The role requires deep IP networking expertise, experience with DNSSEC and DoH/DoT, and a track record of creating automation and observability pipelines using Prometheus, Grafana,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related field (or equivalent practical experience)
• 5+ years in networking or systems engineering with at least 3 years in SRE within high-scale production
• Expert-level DNS configuration with BIND/Unbound/PowerDNS and cloud DNS services
• Advanced understanding of TCP/IP, BGP for Anycast, and DoH/DoT encryption
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or Bash for automation
• Experience building monitoring with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry

Responsibilities

• Lead high-level design and operation of global DNS architectures with Anycast and multi-provider redundancy
• Own architecture and automated failover mechanisms to ensure high availability
• Engage with DNS/infrastructure vendors to align roadmaps with reliability goals
• Oversee lifecycle of DNS platforms including automated deployments and capacity planning
• Define organization-wide DNS security and traffic policies (DNSSEC)
• Establish SLOs and error budgets for core name services
• Develop automation frameworks replacing manual intervention
• Tune Linux kernel for high throughput and analyze DNS logs for issues
• Design monitoring ecosystems to provide latency and reliability insights
