Job summary

Nscale is seeking a Senior Developer Experience Engineer to own the delivery platform end to end, from PRs to production, and to set the roadmaps and standards for the team’s GitOps, build, and release systems. You will lead the internal developer portal and drive adoption across engineering, ensuring secure, fast, and reproducible deployments.

Qualifications

• 6-10 years in platform engineering, SRE, DevOps, or software engineering with ownership of CI/CD or deployment systems used by many teams.
• Strong software engineering skills (Python, Go, or similar). You build tools others adopt, not one-off scripts.
• Deep experience with GitHub at organization scale (Actions, runners, rulesets) and with GitOps tooling (Argo CD, Flux) on Kubernetes.
• Experience automating change management or release approvals, ideally Jira Service Management.
• Solid command of Kubernetes, Linux, networking, and distributed systems.
• Experience with secrets and identity in pipelines (Vault, short‑lived credentials, OIDC) and with artifact and supply chain management.
• Ownership of a build and release system at scale, including performance, reproducibility, cache strategy, and artifact registry.
• Experience designing and running an internal developer platform, including a developer portal (Backstage or similar).
• Reliability practices: SLOs, observability, incident process, and on-call that teams can handle.
• Track record treating developers as customers with adoption metrics and documentation.
• Trusted senior voice in design reviews and incidents, able to lead under pressure.
• Habit of raising the people around you and mentoring others.

Responsibilities

• Own the delivery platform end to end from PR to production and set the roadmap.
• Define paved road with templates, release conventions, and deployment standards.
• Own the internal developer portal (Backstage) as the front door to the paved road.
• Set the technical direction for GitOps (Argo CD, Flux) across clusters.
• Own build and release layer and its performance, including artifact registry.
• Own local and ephemeral test environments (LocalStack) for cloud API testing.
• Design and lead change management automation into Jira Service Management.
• Set SLOs/SLIs for the delivery platform and use data to guide builds.
• Grow the team, mentoring engineers through design reviews and incidents.
• Lead design reviews and architecture decisions early to bake deployability.
• Lead major platform incidents and turn them into long-term improvements.
• Influence other teams to adopt shared tooling and approaches.
