Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer for Databricks to own and evolve the enterprise data platform. You will shape platform strategy, enforce guardrails, and drive reusable data patterns across teams to improve reliability, security, and cost efficiency.

In this hybrid role with Omaha as a preferred location, you will automate with Terraform, collaborate with security, architecture, and data teams, and mentor engineers while enabling scalable, self-service

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
• 7+ years in IT, data engineering, cloud operations, platform engineering, or related field
• Experience with enterprise cloud data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, or Microsoft Fabric
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) and automation (Python/PowerShell)

Responsibilities

• Own the Databricks platform: oversee direction, health, and lifecycle of enterprise Databricks platform including workspace configuration, compute, jobs, and SQL warehouses
• Define and enforce standards for identity, access, networking, Unity Catalog, and sensitive-data controls with clear ownership boundaries
• Automate and enable self-service: IaC with Terraform and automation using GitHub, Databricks CLI, REST APIs, Python, or PowerShell
• Advance responsible AI: apply AI-assisted engineering to platform support and governance of AI capabilities
• Lead modernization: drive upgrades, migrations, integrations, and security remediations
• Run it well and cost-effectively: monitor, incident response, and cost optimization via policies and tagging
• Partner and mentor: collaborate with security, architecture, compliance, and data teams; back up another Platform Engineering platform
