Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer for Databricks to own and evolve the enterprise data platform, ensuring reliability, security, and cost-effectiveness. The role involves building scalable data tooling, governance, and automation while collaborating with security, architecture, and data teams.

You will work with Databricks, Terraform, Python, and GitHub Enterprise, with the option for remote work and one day per week in the Omaha office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, IS or related field.
• Seven (7) years of IT/data engineering/cloud/DevOps/platform experience.
• Hands-on experience administering an enterprise cloud data platform (Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric) including workspace/configuration, compute, jobs, warehouses and permissions.
• Experience delivering reusable data platform capabilities and guardrails.

Responsibilities

• Own the Databricks platform's technical direction, health, reliability and lifecycle.
• Define and enforce standards for identity, access, networking, and data governance (Unity Catalog).
• Develop IaC with Terraform and automation using Python/PowerShell and REST APIs.
• Advance responsible AI integration and model serving capabilities.
• Lead platform upgrades, migrations, and security remediations.
• Monitor, incident response, and optimize compute usage with budgets and tagging.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with security, architecture, and data teams.
