Job summary

BNY is building a new Kubernetes environment in its Technology Services Group. This is a hands-on infrastructure role focused on cluster builds, Linux administration, application onboarding, and platform support.

The role is a 3-month assignment with extension through 2026 and potential into 2027. Locals in Jersey City/NYC onsite 4 days a week; non-locals may work 100% remotely.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• 10+ years of overall technology/infrastructure experience.
• 6+ years of hands-on Linux experience.
• 5+ years of Kubernetes experience, including hands-on cluster building and provisioning.
• 5+ years deploying, scaling, and managing containerized applications.
• 5+ years with container runtimes such as Docker, RunC, or CRI-O.
• 3+ years of Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) experience.
• Strong Linux and Kubernetes troubleshooting skills.

• Kubernetes Cluster Buildout: Build, provision, configure, and support Kubernetes clusters within an internal/private cloud environment.
• Linux Infrastructure: Administer and troubleshoot the Linux infrastructure supporting the Kubernetes platform.
• Application Support: Onboard applications and troubleshoot Kubernetes, Linux, container, and application issues.
• Platform Management: Maintain platform health, hygiene, stability, and operational readiness.
• Monitoring & Alerting: Configure, monitor, and respond to platform alerts.
• Technical Support: Partner with application teams and provide guidance on deployments and platform-related issues.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Kubernetes / OpenShift Platform Engineer to support the buildout of a new Kubernetes environment within BNY's Technology Services Group. This is a hands-on infrastructure role focused on building Kubernetes clusters, Linux administration, application onboarding, and platform support. The ideal candidate has deep Linux and Kubernetes experience, preferably with Red Hat OpenShift, and has personally built and provisioned Kubernetes clusters.

This is an initial 3-month assignment with extension into 2027 expected. Candidates local to Jersey City and New York City will work onsite 4 days per week; non-local candidates can work 100% remotely.

• Cloud and/or private cloud experience.
• Monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Sysdig, or Splunk.
• Python and/or Shell scripting.
• Securities or financial services industry experience.
