Job summary

Numeral seeks a Senior Software Engineer, Platform to build services, APIs, and developer interfaces powering tax automation. You’ll own projects from design to production, shaping reliability and scalability for customers and partners.

You’ll work across infrastructure, public API, MCP server, and billing/ERP integrations, with a strong emphasis on observability, performance, and deployment automation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and operating backend software.
• Strong backend skills with Node.js, PostgreSQL, Redis.
• Experience building APIs, integrations, or data pipelines.
• Practical experience with AWS and containerized workloads (ECS, Kubernetes).
• Understanding distributed systems, retries and idempotency.
• Experience with logs, metrics, and tracing for production reliability.
• Ability to work through ambiguity and communicate tradeoffs clearly.
• Ownership and customer focus in production environments.

Responsibilities

• Build and evolve our public API and MCP server for reliability and scale.
• Create integrations with billing platforms and ERPs for data sync.
• Improve infrastructure to support APIs, background jobs, and data pipelines.
• Own projects end to end from design to rollout and operation.
• Improve observability and incident response to prevent repeats.
• Automate deployment and infra using IaC, CI/CD, and containers.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to ship capabilities reliably.
