Job summary

InterSystems in Boston is seeking a Principal Platform Engineer to act as a hands-on technical leader, shaping direction and driving initiatives that boost platform reliability, developer productivity, and software delivery.

You will guide architecture across internal platforms, oversee CI/CD pipelines and tooling, mentor engineers, and collaborate with teams to simplify automation and scale our cloud infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Eight or more years of professional software/ platform engineering or DevOps experience.
• Experience leading complex initiatives across multiple systems or teams.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, build systems, tooling, IaC, containers, and observability.
• Strong software engineering and automation skills in Python/Go/Java/JavaScript/Bash.
• Experience using AI tools to improve development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and architectural direction across Platform Engineering.
• Design and enhance internal platforms, CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and tooling.
• Identify opportunities to automate how software is built, tested, and delivered.
• Ensure platforms are scalable, reliable, secure, and maintainable.
• Evaluate new technologies and drive adoption where impactful.
• Collaborate with teams, mentor engineers, and guide technical decisions.
