Job summary

Kargo is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead architectural direction for the Platform organization. You will own cross-team strategy across Workflow, Self-Service Agentic Ad Buying, and Creative Hub, guiding decisions on data ownership, service boundaries, and integration approaches.

You will mentor engineers, drive multi-year technical plans, and shape the next generation of distributed, agentic advertising infrastructure with emphasis on reliability and scalability in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in software engineering with senior IC scope
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems at scale
• Hands-on experience building LLM-backed or agentic systems in production
• Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript and/or Golang, CI/CD, containers and cloud infra
• Mentorship track record with engineers who advanced under your guidance
• BS or higher in CS/Engineering/Math or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

• Set and socialize target architecture across Workflow, Self-Service Agentic Ad Buying, and Creative Hub
• Provide architectural direction and unblock multiple initiatives
• Own high-consequence decisions on service boundaries and data ownership
• Establish how to build LLM-backed features with evals and guardrails
• Upskill senior engineers through design coaching and pairing
• Identify shared patterns across domains to avoid rebuilds
• Translate business strategy into technical strategy and assess risk
