Job summary

Kargo is modernizing its Workflow Platform. We are seeking a Senior Engineer to design and build distributed services, owning projects end-to-end and partnering with engineering, product, and data teams. You’ll focus on reliability, observability, and scalable architecture in a fast-paced AdTech environment.

You will contribute to CI/CD pipelines, mentor peers, and advocate best practices across the team, while delivering measurable improvements in performance and resilience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent practical experience.
• 5–8 years of software engineering experience in distributed or high-scale systems.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and/or Golang; other modern languages are a plus.
• Solid experience with CI/CD, Docker/Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
• Experience with microservices and async messaging (Kafka) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and build distributed services for the Workflow Platform modernization, from design through deployment and post-launch optimization.
• Own significant projects end-to-end with minimal hand-holding and cross-functional collaboration.
• Improve platform health via latency reductions, fault tolerance, and observability enhancements.
• Mentor less experienced engineers through pairing, documentation, and constructive guidance.
• Partner with Product, Data, and stakeholders, translating fluently between technical and non-technical.
• Contribute to code reviews and share what’s working with teammates.

• The Kargo Workflow Platform powers our entire AdTech engine, and we’re modernizing it
• As a Senior Engineer on the team, you’ll design and build distributed services that are reliable, observable, and built to last - owning projects end-to-end and partnering across engineering, product, and data
• Design and build distributed services for the Workflow Platform modernization, thinking about failure modes, retry logic, and observability from the start
• Own significant projects end-to-end - from design through deployment and post-launch optimization - with minimal hand-holding
• Improve platform health through latency reductions, fault tolerance, and observability enhancements with measurable outcomes
• Use AI-assisted development tools fluently to ship faster, and actively share what’s working with teammates
• Raise the quality bar through code reviews and design discussions, contributing well-reasoned opinions
• Partner with Product, Data, and cross-functional stakeholders, translating fluently between technical and non-technical
• Mentor less experienced engineers through pairing, documentation, and patient, constructive guidance
