Job summary

Operative is seeking an experienced architecture leader to drive platform engineering across backend services, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure. The role emphasizes hands-on depth and autonomous work in a distributed, high-scale SaaS environment.

You will lead AI adoption within engineering workflows and set standards for architecture, testing, and deployment while mentoring engineers globally to deliver reliable, scalable systems.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering with architectural scope.
• Experience as a senior technical owner of a complex distributed system.
• Proven ability to drive technical initiatives independently.
• Background in SaaS platform engineering and cloud-native environments.

Responsibilities

• Architect and lead delivery of complex, cross-functional initiatives spanning backend services, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure
• Drive the adoption and maturity of AI within engineering workflows, including agentic tooling and autonomous AI agents
• Identify systemic technical challenges across reliability, performance, scalability, and observability, and own the path to resolution
• Define and uphold engineering standards across code quality, testing practices, API design, data modeling, and deployment patterns
• Make architectural decisions in ambiguous situations and communicate them clearly to stakeholders
• Engage across the full stack and balance system-level design with hands-on implementation
• Partner with Product and business to translate requirements into technical strategy
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance through reviews and collaboration
• Serve as a senior escalation point for complex engineering problems
