Job summary

The Division of Administration/Office of State Buildings has a vacancy for a state plant operator. This 12-hour rotating shift position serves at the South Central Plant, North Central Plant, and Capitol Complex areas and is considered essential personnel, reporting for duty at all scheduled times, including building closures.

The operator oversees shift operation and after-hours emergency repairs, coordinates with Building Managers and Department Heads, and maintains detailed logs.

Qualifications

• Three years of experience or training in operation/maintenance of large stationary engines or mechanical equipment.
• EPA refrigerant recycling and recovery certification (Section 608) is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate six (6) 1200 ton York centrifugal chillers and twelve cooling towers, monitoring operation and adjusting set points.
• Operate pumps and water treatment systems; manage chemical feeds and conductivity controls.
• Maintain operation logs and assist in routine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Monitor and control energy management systems to ensure peak operating efficiency.
