Job summary

Calpine, a leading generator in the U.S., seeks a General Plant Manager to oversee daily operations and maintenance across multiple fossil power facilities. You will direct supervisory staff, manage budgets, and coordinate with the home office to optimize performance and cost efficiency.

You will ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and reliable generation, while maintaining strong community relations and adherence to corporate objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Management or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory/managerial experience.
• Minimum 15+ years in area of specialization, with understanding of electrical generation power plants.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations and maintenance of multiple fossil power production facilities.
• Lead and direct day-to-day activities to meet short and medium-term financial and operating objectives.
• Manage human resources for supervisory leadership, operations personnel and subcontractors.
• Set maintenance schedules and conduct routine maintenance; manage training programs.
• Manage plant business and budget issues with home office interface; propose equipment modifications and plant improvements.
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations and maintain safe operations.
• Direct all plant activities to ensure desired generation at minimum cost and maintain community relations.
