Job summary

Covia is seeking a Senior Plant Manager in Chardon, OH to lead operations across multiple locations. You will direct overall plant activities, ensure safety, manage costs, and drive continuous improvement while coordinating across Corporate Operations, Engineering, and Safety teams.

The role requires strong leadership, extensive experience in heavy industry or mining, and proficiency with ERP systems and MS Office.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in technical or engineering major preferred.
5+ years of heavy industry experience; mining/mineral processing preferred.
2+ years of Plant Manager experience required.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
Knowledge of MSHA Regulations or OSHA Manufacturing.
Experience working with ERP Systems.

Responsibilities

Lead the plant's steering team across multiple locations.
Implement Covia Management System and foster ownership among staff.
Establish ongoing training programs and use basic statistical methods.
Drive continuous improvement to reduce costs and improve productivity and quality.
Monitor costs, quality, and operating conditions with cross-functional partners.
Ensure safety culture and regulatory compliance (MSHA/OSHA).
Maintain manuals and plant policies; oversee maintenance and capital planning.
Manage staffing and performance appraisals; develop key employees.
Oversee budgeting, reporting, and inter-department coordination.
Build community relations and environmental action plans.
