Job summary

Covia is seeking an Operations Manager at our Chardon, OH location to direct production, shipping, and maintenance activities to achieve goals at the lowest cost with top safety and quality. The role requires leadership of the operations team, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations while driving performance and efficiency across the plant.

The successful candidate will bring a strong background in heavy industry, 5+ years of experience, and proven supervisory capabilities

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical major preferred.
• 5+ years of related heavy industry experience.
• 2+ years of front-line supervisory experience.
• Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Direct safe mining, processing, and shipping activities with records.
• Lead continuous improvement to reduce costs and improve productivity.
• Coordinate subordinates to meet output and quality targets.
• Advise on standards, methods, and equipment modifications.
• Assist Plant Manager with operations reports and variance comments.
• Lead annual Operational Excellence meeting and OEM plant reviews.
• Ensure safety, health, and environmental regulations are followed.
• Oversee hiring of hourly employees and labor relations.
• Inspect production and maintenance records for accuracy.
