Job summary

Guardian Energy Janesville is seeking a Senior Plant Engineer to provide technical and operational leadership for capital projects, process optimization, plant reliability, safety, and continuous improvement.

The role collaborates with plant leadership to improve profitability, strengthen operating discipline, and ensure safe, compliant plant performance, reporting to the Plant Manager.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of progressive engineering experience in ethanol or continuous-process manufacturing.
• Experience leading capital or continuous improvement projects from concept to startup and verification.
• Strong knowledge of production processes, process controls, and plant operating practices.
• Ability to analyze complex operating data and implement sustainable improvements.
• Experience with DCS and collaborating with operators to improve process control.
• Knowledge of Process Safety Management practices (MOC, PSSR, incident investigation).
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate across levels.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data-analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead capital and CI project identification, budgeting, scheduling, and verification.
• Analyze plant KPIs and provide monitoring tools to identify trends and risks.
• Provide senior-level technical support for troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
• Coordinate with Plant Manager and shifts to ensure safe, compliant operation.
• Oversee process safety management implementations and change processes.
• Lead plant shutdown planning and startup readiness.
• Mentor Shift Leads and engineers to grow process knowledge.
