Job summary

H&S Family of Bakeries in the United States is seeking a Chief Engineer to oversee the maintenance department across our baking operations. You will manage equipment maintenance, building grounds, inventory, budgets, and capital projects while leading a team of mechanics.

This hands-on role requires five+ years in maintenance within the food industry, leadership skills, and strong electrical/mechanical troubleshooting, with availability for varied shifts and on-call support.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years' experience as a maintenance mechanic.
• Experience in the food industry, preferably baking.
• Experience with mixers, dough handling equipment, ovens, cooling systems, packaging equipment and refrigeration systems; conveyors; HVAC and CMMS.
• Strong leadership qualities and mechanical skills.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting ability.
• Willing to work different shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Oversee maintenance department, including equipment, building and grounds.
• Manage parts purchasing, inventory, budgets and capital projects.
• Direct maintenance hiring, scheduling and training programs.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
• Ensure food safety requirements related to maintenance are met.
• Coordinate with production and sanitation for shutdowns and maintenance windows.
• Maintain on-call availability for remote and on-site troubleshooting.
