Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a Sr Engineer I, Plant Controls in the Engineering group to design and deliver control solutions for utility-scale renewable projects. You will guide SCADA concepts, gather project requirements, and coordinate with third-party providers from design through on-site commissioning.

This role requires a Bachelor's in electrical engineering or related field, 7+ years in control systems, strong networking, RTU configuration, and proven documentation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 7+ years' experience in control systems and SCADA.
• Strong networking, RTU/configuration experience.
• Experience writing technical exhibits and scope docs.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%.
• Ability to work autonomously and communicate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Leads SCADA design, configuration, and commissioning on multiple projects.
• Coordinates with project managers and SMEs to meet requirements and timelines.
• Reviews contracts and develops standard exhibits and docs.
• Gathers technical requirements from grid codes and contracts.
• Develops scope of work and technical requirements for vendors.
• Oversees contractor design documents and ensures operational needs.
• Leads networking design, RTU configuration, and plant control strategy.
• Commission substation equipment and plant networks; mentor junior engineers.
• Drives interpretation of Battery plant data across the business.
• Communicates with stakeholders and aligns with broader engineering teams.
• Trains and educates junior engineers across project phases.
