Job summary

SOL Barbados Ltd. operates LPG depots and is seeking a safety‑mocused operative to support day‑to‑day plant operations and tanker discharge.

You will assist with maintenance, monitoring of pipelines, dispatch, and safety drills, requiring a technical education and 3–5 years in an industrial facility, plus good computer literacy and teamwork.

Qualifications

• A sound secondary education with qualification from a technical college or institution.
• 3 to 5 years working in an industrial facility.

Responsibilities

• Ensure highest level of safety awareness and report issues to supervisor.
• Be knowledgeable of HSSE policies and depot procedures.
• Check storage vessels and equipment for leaks; maintain clean areas.
• Perform daily preventive maintenance on drains, pipelines, pumps, and fire systems.
• Assist LPG foreman with testing safety devices and pipelines.
• Ensure weekly fire pump testing and firefighting readiness.
• Document daily plant start-up/shutdown and calibrations of filling scales.
• Attend safety meetings and participate in drills and training.
• Assist in tanker discharge operations and with tank dips and draining.
• Monitor pipeline pressures during transfers and assist with dispatch of orders.

To assure the safe and efficient day to day functioning of the LPG Plant including a safe tanker discharge operation.

Accountabilities:

• Always ensure that a highest level of safety awareness and practices and alert Facility/Operations Supervisor or LPG Foreman of all pertinent issues
• Be knowledgeable of HSE policies
• Be knowledgeable of depot operations procedures including emergency response plans
• Ensure that all product waste is disposed of safely to group standards and that proper records are made, kept, and forwarded, through depot supervisor, to central files
• Check all product storage vessels and equipment for leaks and maintain all areas free of oils
• Ensure that the depot is always maintained in a clean condition i.e., good housekeeping
• Carry out daily preventive maintenance as directed on all drains, sumps, pipelines, fire systems, depot pumps and general upkeep of depot plant and plant vehicles including such as forklifts, trolley jacks and other equipment
• Assist the LPG foreman with the testing all critical LPG safety devices & pipelines per agreed standards
• Ensure that the fire pump is tested weekly
• Ensure that the integrity of fire lines is not compromised and if so, report and follow up to ensure firefighting capability remains as per design intent
• Complete and document the daily LPG plant start-up and shutdown of the LPG plant including the daily calibration of the filling scales
• Check all fire extinguishers weekly and ensure maintenance checks are carried out and records kept
• Attend safety and toolbox meetings and execute tasks as assigned.
• Assist in tanker discharge operations as assigned
• Assist with and/or perform daily tank dips and tank draining
• Assist with the monitoring and recording of pipeline pressures during transfers
• Assist with dispatch of customer orders
• Assist with and/or participate in training sessions, emergency exercises and drills at LPG depot as required
• Perform any other depot operation duties assigned by Operations/Facility Supervisor to ensure safe operations
• Deputize for the LPG foreman periodically when/ if selected

Qualification Requirements:

• A sound secondary education with qualification from a technical college or institution.
• 3 to 5 years working in an industrial facility .
