Job summary
Lane County seeks an experienced Senior Plans Examiner to perform advanced technical review of complex residential, commercial, and industrial construction plans in Oregon.
You will apply building codes, review engineering documents, and provide clear corrections to architects, engineers, and contractors while enjoying a flexible hybrid schedule and minimal overtime.
This role emphasizes plan review with limited field inspections and opportunities for flexible work arrangements.
Qualifications
- Three years of responsible plans examination experience.
- Equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Possession of ICC Building Plans Examiner (B3) and Oregon Inspector Certificate OR Oregon Code Certification as a Plans Examiner (PEA).
- Must have a valid driver’s license (out-of-state accepted) by time of appointment.
Responsibilities
- Review plans, specifications, engineering documents, and calculations for code compliance.
- Serve as a technical resource for architects, engineers, contractors, and staff.
- Communicate needed corrections clearly and identify practical paths to compliance.
- Support development and improvement of plan-review procedures.
- Assist applicants navigating the permitting process with clear, professional service.
