Job summary

Pierce County's Development Services division, Planning and Public Works, seeks a Plans Examiner Supervisor to lead a team of examiners and oversee complex commercial and residential plan reviews, serving as the point of contact for priority permits and renewal decisions.

You will coordinate workloads, guide plan reviewers, and ensure code compliance across building, plumbing, mechanical, and energy codes for projects ranging from schools to apartments and warehouses, while building strong

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Building Technology, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• 4+ years in building/fire inspection or plans examining.
• Current ICC Plans Examiner, Mechanical and Plumbing certification required.

Responsibilities

• Reviews commercial and residential blueprints and construction plans for conformance with County codes.
• Identifies plan discrepancies with established building codes and regulations.
• Provides information to architects, engineers and the public regarding code compliance and plan corrections.
• Participates in customer meetings as required.
• Assists in implementation of policy and procedure improvements.
