Job summary

Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services, Building Codes Division, seeks a Plans Examiner, Residential to review construction plans for one- and two-family dwellings, townhouses, and accessory structures to ensure compliance with building, mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection codes.

Candidates must hold Oregon Inspector Certification (OIC), Oregon Residential Building Inspector Certificate or ICC B1, and either ICC R3 or Oregon equivalent Plans Examiner certification.

Qualifications

  • Possession of an Oregon Inspector Certification (OIC) is required.
  • Possession of an Oregon Residential Building Inspector Certificate OR ICC B1 Residential Inspector certification is required.
  • Possession of an Oregon One and Two Family Dwelling Plans Examiner Certification OR ICC R3 Residential Plans Examiner certification is required.

Responsibilities

  • Examine construction plans, blueprints, architectural drawings for compliance with building, mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection codes.
  • Provide code interpretation guidance and council on highly technical engineering issues to division staff and inspectors, building departments, fire departments, architects, engineers, and other state agencies.
  • Advise and problem-solve on technical issues to support plan review and code compliance.
