Job summary

The City of Papillion is seeking a Plans Examiner II to perform advanced review of commercial construction, fire and life safety plans to ensure compliance with adopted codes and city requirements.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Building & Fire Safety, you will examine drawings, coordinate with planning and engineering staff, and communicate findings to contractors and developers. This on-site role requires thorough review and timely decisions.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required.
• High school diploma or GED required; degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, fire protection, or a closely related field preferred.
• ICC Building Plans Examiner certification required.
• NFPA Certified Fire Plan Examiner certification required.

Responsibilities

• Review commercial plans to ensure compliance with codes and ordinances.
• Coordinate with City staff to interpret zoning and infrastructure requirements.
• Conduct plan examinations and prepare clear review comments.
• Perform on-site inspections as needed and coordinate with inspectors.
• Communicate findings to developers and engineers.
