Job summary

Georgetown-Scott County, located in the northern Lexington MSA, is seeking a Senior Planner to coordinate Planning, Engineering (new construction) and GIS functions and to serve as the Commission’s liaison with the City Council, County Commission and various boards.

The position performs current and long-range planning, including development and implementation of the Comprehensive Plan, and requires regular GIS use with assistance from the GIS Department; strong writing and presentation skills

Qualifications

Knowledge of both urban and rural land use planning principles.
Experience with research and statistical data collection.
Familiarity with transportation, housing, economic development, cultural and historic preservation, environmental studies, and public policy and/or law.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and oversee Planning, Engineering (new construction) and GIS functions.
Serve as liaison with the City Council, County Commission and various boards.
Perform current and long-range planning activities, including development and implementation of the Comprehensive Plan.
Utilize GIS regularly with the GIS Department.
Communicate effectively with engineers, surveyors, developers, property owners, and the public; present to boards and attend public meetings as needed.
