Job summary

The Boone County Planning Commission in Kentucky is seeking a Senior Planner focused on long-range planning. The role involves leading collaborative community discussions on diverse planning and development projects and supporting high-level land use planning and data analytics.

Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in planning and 3–5 years of related experience, strong GIS and communication skills, and a willingness to pursue advanced certifications.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in planning or related field.
  • At least 3–5 years of relevant work experience in land use planning or community/economic development.
  • Demonstrated technical, interpersonal, public speaking, organizational, GIS, research and written skills are required.
  • Certification in planning, historic preservation or economic development preferred but not required.
  • Experience with a Certified Local Government Program is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Community Development Services in high-level land use planning and community development functions, including comprehensive planning, historic preservation, land conservation, economic development, infrastructure planning and data analytics.
  • Lead collaborative community discussions on a wide range of planning and development projects.
  • Effectively communicate information and policies to and with community representatives.
