Job summary

Modigent is seeking an experienced Superintendent - Piping/Fabrication to lead field operations on commercial mechanical projects. You will supervise piping fabrication, welding, and installation, ensuring code-compliant, high-quality piping for HVAC, plumbing, and process applications, while coordinating with other trades and ensuring safety and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Experience: 7+ years in piping fabrication/installation for commercial mechanical projects, including 3+ years supervisory experience.
• Education: High school diploma or GED; trade certifications (e.g., welding, pipefitting) preferred.
• Physical Demands: Field/shop-based; lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders/scaffolding, work in confined spaces, bend/kneel, use tools; frequent standing/walking.
• Work Environment/Safety: Construction sites/shops; OSHA regulations; PPE required; occasional regional travel/on-call.

Responsibilities

• Supervise fabrication, welding, assembly, and installation of piping systems per blueprints, specs, and codes.
• Manage shop and field crews, including scheduling, material staging, and tool readiness.
• Enforce safety protocols, conduct hazard assessments, toolbox talks, and PPE compliance.
• Coordinate with other trades, subcontractors, and project managers for sequencing and conflict resolution.
• Perform quality inspections, pressure testing, and documentation for handover and compliance.
• Troubleshoot fabrication/installation issues, optimize workflows, and minimize waste.
• Mentor pipefitters, welders, and fabricators on best practices and safety.
