Job summary

Matrix Service Company is seeking a Sr. Designer/Checker, Piping to lead design and drafting efforts for custom projects. The role involves producing layouts, checking drawings, and potentially serving as Discipline Design Lead (DDL) or Project Design Lead (PDL) across multiple disciplines.

Candidates should have a strong piping background and 3D CAD proficiency. The position requires coordinating with internal and external designers, managing scope and schedule, and ensuring safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field preferred or equivalent experience
• 4+ years of related piping design and layout experience
• Advanced 3D CAD systems knowledge (CADWorx, PDMS or AVEVA)
• Strong understanding of piping, mechanical, and drafting disciplines
• Safety in Design exposure preferred and knowledge of relevant codes and standards

Responsibilities

• Produce and check piping layouts and drawings for accuracy and completeness
• Act as Discipline Design Lead (DDL) and may serve as Project Design Lead (PDL) for all disciplines
• Lead internal and external designers/drafters and manage project scope
• Assist in determining project scope, milestones, and man-hour estimates
• Coordinate with team members and participate in project meetings to ensure timely delivery
• Ensure drawings meet constructability, safety, and quality requirements
• Perform basic to advanced checking of drawings and BOMs
• Support training and development of junior staff as needed
• Perform additional responsibilities as directed by project leadership
