Job summary

ExxonMobil in Baytown, TX is seeking an experienced Pilot Plant and Laboratory Design Engineer to lead diverse pilot plant and laboratory projects within our Baytown technology center. You will drive process design, provide technical support through project execution, and develop engineering solutions to improve performance and enable new research opportunities.

The role requires leading PFDs, P&IDs, and plot plans, along with QA plans, equipment specification, and cross-functional collaboration

Qualifications

• B.S. in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 yrs. relevant experience.
• Proficiency in process simulation and MS Office.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities across business lines.
• Self-motivated with ability to manage multiple projects.
• Willingness to adapt to changing requirements and environments.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze data and solve complex problems.

Responsibilities

• Lead process design for lab and pilot plant projects, focusing on feasibility and options.
• Create project scoping documents to communicate findings.
• Provide technical support to Capital Projects during early development.
• Develop detailed PFDs, P&IDs, and plot plans.
• Develop QA plans and verify design compliance against specs.
• Specify equipment and support trades during construction.
• Review site changes, troubleshoot, and drive continuous improvement.
• Travel for global lab operations as needed.
