Job summary

MIT Lincoln Laboratory’s RF and Integrated Photonics Group seeks a scientist or engineer to join the PIC fabrication team. You will develop fabrication processes for monolithic and hybrid-integrated circuits for both classical and quantum applications, working primarily on 200 mm PIC platforms.

After training, you will support fabrication runs, monitor metrology, and perform process integration with a skilled team across CMOS-adjacent spaces. Prior MEMS experience is relevant and appreciated.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or M.S. in a field related to nanofabrication with at least 3 years hands-on experience in micro/nanofabrication process engineering or process integration. Exemplary candidates with a B.S. and extensive on-the-job experience and demonstrated breadth and depth of fabrication expertise will also be considered.
  • A demonstrated ability to develop and execute rigorous experimental plans
  • Tool operation expertise and theoretical understanding in at least one of lithography, etch, thin films, metrology, and inspection
  • SEM experience is desired and knowledge of multiple fabrication steps is a plus
  • Experience with hybrid or heterogeneous multi-material integration and novel material etch development is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Develop PIC fabrication processes for monolithic and hybrid-integrated circuits for classical and quantum applications.
  • Oversee 200 mm PIC fabrication runs and monitor in-line process metrology to improve yield and reliability.
  • Collaborate with a team of engineers and technicians to execute short-loop and full-flow fabrication runs and support process integration.
