Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Physical Therapist II for a 32-hour-per-week, on-site position at our Worcester campus. The role focuses on evaluation, treatment planning, and advanced clinical duties for a diverse patient population in an academic health system.

The incumbent will lead clinical activities, educate patients and families, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care. A Massachusetts PT license and 2+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program and current unrestricted license to practice physical therapy in Massachusetts.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience.
• Effective verbal and written communication; advanced clinical knowledge; ability to instruct/mentor others.
• Excellent customer service and ability to work cooperatively with all members of the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Administers physical therapy to diverse patient populations and develops treatment goals to maximize function.
• Examines and evaluates patients' PT needs and formulates a diagnosis and plan.
• Delegates caseload to therapists/assistants and oversees quality of care.
• Maintains productivity and completes documentation on time to meet department standards.
• Acts as a clinical resource and mentors staff; develops protocols and education.
• Educates patients and families; participates in discharge planning and team meetings.
• Consults with health care team to coordinate therapies and may preceptor students/mentees.
• Oversees orientation of new staff and students; participates in staff development.
• Implements quality assurance, conducts chart audits, and mentors process improvements.
• Triages, prioritizes, monitors admissions/referrals/discharges as assigned.
• Develops clinical knowledge through professional activities and training.
• Participates in committees or groups to promote PT services and education.
• Manages department supplies and equipment; participates in inventory decisions.
• Leads community service activities and supports organizational commitments.
• In supervisor's absence, assumes duties as assigned; attends departmental meetings.
