Job summary

University of Southern California is seeking a Senior Security Systems Engineer to support USC's physical security technologies for the Department of Public Safety and the university community. You will work across access control, video surveillance, alarm monitoring, radio systems, and related tech in a mission-critical environment.

The role combines engineering, administration, and project leadership with vendor coordination, design reviews, and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; combined experience/education allowed.
• 5+ years' experience in systems administration and backups, operating systems programming languages, and hardware platforms.
• Experience administering enterprise physical security platforms (Genetec, Lenel, etc.).
• Proven success leading upgrades, migrations, deployments, or system integrations.

Responsibilities

• Administers, maintains, monitors, and supports enterprise physical safety technologies (access control, video surveillance, alarm monitoring, radio systems).
• Provides advanced technical support and troubleshooting for complex security technology issues; identifies root causes and restores service.
• Leads security technology projects involving upgrades, migrations, deployments, expansions, integrations, and modernization initiatives.
• Designs, configures, tests, and commissions security hardware and software; supports integrations with applications, network, cloud services, and third-party tech.
• Researches emerging technologies and recommends improvements to enhance reliability, security and efficiency.
• Maintains technical documentation, SOPs, diagrams, standards, testing procedures, and workflows.
