Job summary

Amazon Data Services, Inc. is seeking a Senior Physical Security Engineer for AWS data centers in the Americas. You will lead security design programs, own complex projects, and drive regional standards across multiple data center sites.

You will collaborate with civil, architectural, electrical, and ICT teams, mentor junior engineers, review vendor deliverables, and ensure AWS security outputs meet compliance and operational needs. Travel up to 25% is anticipated.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities.
• 5+ years of experience leading physical security design programs including construction drawings and specifications.
• 5+ years of experience developing and reviewing design documentation for construction/permitting.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in related field.
• Experience directing external design consultants and coordinating with multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end security design including drawings and standards for physical security across multiple data center projects in the Americas.
• Drive development of security design standards and templates reflecting best practices and lessons learned.
• Lead cross-functional design reviews with Civil, Architectural, Electrical, and ICT teams.
• Identify and resolve design risks spanning teams or regions.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and construction methods for AWS infrastructure and champion adoption where ROI supports it.
• Serve as primary technical contact for physical security design consultants and ensure alignment with AWS standards.
• Provide technical input during vendor selection and bid evaluation.
• Mentor junior Physical Security Engineers to strengthen technical acumen and delivery capability.
• Conduct site assessments, construction reviews, and design coordination meetings; travel ≤ 25%.
