Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Physical Security Engineer for Data Center Design Engineering in Austin, TX. You will lead security designs for data centers across the Americas, producing construction drawings and specifications and guiding external consultants to meet security standards.

You will work with AWS security teams to develop design standards, review BOD documents, and manage multiple projects while traveling up to 20%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related technical field.
• 7+ years of physical security engineering experience in industrial or commercial facilities.
• 2+ years of physical security engineering experience in mission critical facilities including data centers, power generation, or oil and gas generation.
• Experience carrying physical security design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment.
• Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.

Responsibilities

• Lead designs (construction drawings and specifications) for physical security elements (cameras, access control, intrusion detection, fences, gates, etc.) for DC projects.
• Collaborate with other security organizations within AWS to develop design standards, evaluate cost, risk and benefits of designs, and facilitate design discussions.
• Communicate conceptual designs to internal stakeholders and external consultants.
• Participate in the maintenance of basis of design (BOD) documents, prototype design, and template specifications for physical security elements.
• Create security design scope of work for DC project RFPs.
• Review and direct the work of physical security engineering design consultants.
• Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
• Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with design consultants. Anticipated travel not to exceed 20%.
