Job summary

Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures. Explain venipuncture process clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Match requisition forms to tubes; label, centrifuge, split and freeze as required.
• Package specimens for transport and store according to required temperatures; comply with OSHA and DEP regulations; attend trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
