Job summary

Penn Medicine is seeking a Level II Phlebotomist to join our phlebotomy team. The role emphasizes independent work, accuracy, professionalism, and adherence to safety standards while performing a broad range of blood collections across patient types.

Mentoring Level I staff and collaborating with a high-performing team are essential. Responsibilities include correct specimen collection, labeling, and timely processing within EMR/LIS.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• ASCP PBT/MLA certification or eligibility is required.
• 4+ years of phlebotomy training and outpatient/hospital experience.

Responsibilities

• Identify patient age group and developmental needs when communicating.
• Perform venipuncture and capillary collection accurately.
• Label specimens with 100% accuracy.
• Enter patient demographics, test orders, and billing information into EMR/LIS.
• Maintain a safe, organized work area and follow SOPs.
• Communicate professionally with patients, families, and staff.
