Job summary

Optum is seeking a Senior Phlebotomist to perform venipuncture, EKGs, and a range of waived to moderate laboratory tests. The role requires attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a 40-hour week at our Eugene, OR location.

Responsibilities include specimen processing, quality control, documentation in LIS/EMR, and patient interaction. A phlebotomy certificate and BLS are required, with 1+ year experience and comfort with computer systems.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a Phlebotomy Certificate program.
• BLS (American Heart Association) certification required or obtained within 30 days.
• 1+ year phlebotomy experience.
• 1+ year computer proficiency with Microsoft Office; ability to use EMR systems.
• Physically able to lift up to 24 pounds; able to stand/walk for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and specimen collection for various tests.
• Conduct waived and moderate complexity laboratory testing, including microscopy.
• Record results accurately and maintain patient information in the LIS/EMR.
• Perform quality control, calibration, and proficiency testing activities.
• Safely handle specimens, follow HIPAA and privacy requirements.
• Perform EKGs and other miscellaneous services.
• Interact professionally with patients and healthcare providers.
