Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a Phlebotomist II to perform venipunctures and skin punctures across age groups, from neonates to adults, and to process specimens for testing. You will register patients, aid in billing, and ensure accurate accessioning while maintaining a comforting bedside manner.

Responsibilities include quality control, resolving discrepancies, and providing support across Geisinger’s laboratory services in inpatient, outpatient, and homebound settings.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomist II must perform venipunctures and skin punctures per CLSI guidelines.
• Ability to obtain blood specimens from neonates to adults.
• Experience with accessioning and processing specimens and using computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures and skin punctures to obtain blood specimens.
• Ensure correct specimen collection and positive identification.
• Process specimens for analysis and record results.
• Maintain quality control and troubleshoot as needed.
• Provide patient explanations and maintain a comforting attitude.
• Navigate multiple computer applications for patient registration and billing.
