Job summary

Actalent in New City, NY is seeking a Phlebotomist to perform blood collection and point-of-care testing while supporting laboratory workflow. This role emphasizes accurate specimen collection, processing, quality assurance, and high-level service to patients and clinical staff.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, capillary collection, data entry, specimen labeling and storage, plus compliance with OSHA/DEP. This is a contract-to-hire, onsite position with potential weekend coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of phlebotomy experience.
• Proficient in venipuncture and capillary collection.
• Experience with point-of-care testing and QA under supervision.
• Strong data entry accuracy and timeliness.
• Knowledge of specimen handling, labeling, and storage.
• Familiar with OSHA/DEP safety regulations.
• Experience processing lab specimens in clinical settings.
• Excellent customer service and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques.
• Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity testing, alcohol testing, and other tests.
• Enter patient and specimen information accurately.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens per test orders.
• Verify test requisitions for 100% accuracy.
• Store specimens at required temperatures and ensure integrity.
• Provide courteous, professional service to patients and staff.
• Support troubleshooting and workflow improvements.
