Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.
• Minimum 6 months' venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains venipuncture process clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate technique using straight or butterfly needles; match physicians' orders.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Check test requisitions against script for accuracy; package specimens for transport.
• Store specimen samples per required temperature and transport protocol.
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations; attend trainings.
• Respond to telephone inquiries and relay lab results as needed.
