Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (as required).
• Minimum 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws and label specimens.
• Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.
• Update patient information and collect/store specimens per procedures.
• Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection methods to patients clearly.
• Demonstrate technique using straight and/or butterfly needles.
• Follow physicians' orders and ensure compatibility of requisitions.
• Package specimens for transport and maintain specimen integrity per protocols.
• Follow OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual trainings.
• Answer calls and read laboratory results to respond to inquiries.
