Actalent is hiring a Phlebotomist in Spring Valley, NY for full-time contract-to-hire. You will perform venipuncture and capillary collections, collect specimens for various tests, and ensure accurate data entry and labeling.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a Phlebotomist.
• Proficient in venipuncture and capillary collection.
• Experience with blood draws in clinical/lab settings.
• Ability to perform point-of-care testing and quality assurance under supervision.
• Strong data entry accuracy and timeliness.
• Proper labeling, centrifugation, and specimen handling per test requirements.
• Knowledge of OSHA/DEP regulations and safety protocols.
• Experience processing lab specimens and working in medical environments.
• Customer service skills and professional interaction with patients.
• Reliable transportation to meet scheduling and location needs.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for patients of all ages.
• Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity testing, alcohol testing, and other tests.
• Perform accurate and timely data entry of patient and specimen information.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by each test order.
• Verify test requisitions or labels against orders for 100% accuracy.
• Store specimens at required temperatures and transport as needed.
• Label specimens accurately and follow handling protocols to maintain integrity.
• Follow OSHA and DEP regulations and safety procedures.
• Prepare specimens for testing and analysis per standards.
• Process billing information and collect payments when required.
• Maintain logs of patient and specimen information.
• Provide courteous, professional, responsive service to patients and staff.
• Assist with troubleshooting related to specimen collection and workflow.
• Support training and mentoring within the phlebotomy team.
• Suggest workflow improvements to enhance efficiency.
