Job summary

Providence Covenant Medical Center is seeking an Acute Care Pharmacy Tech III to support filling and dispensing unit dose and stock medications to nursing units and other departments. You will handle oral and IV medications, triage orders, and maintain ADS integrity.

Preferred candidates have PTCB certification and hospital pharmacy experience, with familiarity in automated dispensing systems and electronic health records.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED is required.
• Texas Pharmacy Technician Trainee License or Texas Registered Pharmacy Technician License upon hire.
• Minimum 2 years (>4160 clock hours) in integrated health system with PTCB certification, or 3 years (>6240 hours) hospital pharmacy without PTCB.
• Experience with ADMs and EHR systems.

Responsibilities

The Acute Care Pharmacy Tech III performs duties relating to the filling and dispensing of unit dose and stock medications from the pharmacy to the nursing units and other ancillary departments in a prompt accurate manner. Fill/dispense oral and IV medications, triaging patient orders and maintaining the integrity of the automated dispensing system (ADS). Has advanced knowledge and skills in two or more specialty areas in the pharmacy.

Required Qualifications:

• H.S. Diploma or GED.
• Upon hire: New Mexico Pharmacy Technician - New Mexico Board of Pharmacy or
  • Upon hire: Texas Pharmacy Technician Trainee or
  • Upon hire: Texas Registered Pharmacy Technician License.
• Minimum of 2 years (> 4160 clock hours) of pharmacy practice in an integrated health system and PTCB certification - OR - 3 years (> 6240 hours) hospital pharmacy if technician does not have PTCB certification.
• Previous experience with Automated Dispensing Machines (ADMs) and electronic health records (EHR).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Coursework/Training:Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician program.
• Advanced PTCB certificate (e.g., compounded sterile products, advanced certified pharmacy technician, medication history certificate, controlled substances).
• Specialty certification (e.g. ACPE approved sterile compounding certification) where applicable by role and state.
