Job summary

Providence Covenant Hobbs Hospital in Hobbs, NM is seeking an Acute Care Pharmacy Tech II to support filling and dispensing unit dose and stock medications to nursing units and other departments with accuracy and speed.

You will fill and dispense oral and IV medications, triage patient orders, and maintain the integrity of the automated dispensing system (ADS) in a dynamic hospital setting.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED is required.
• PTCB certification is required or alternative licensure per state.
• Minimum of one year (>2080 hours) of pharmacy practice in an integrated health system or two years (>4160 hours) hospital pharmacy if not PTCB certified.

The Acute Care Pharmacy Tech II performs duties relating to the filling and dispensing of unit dose and stock medications from the pharmacy to the nursing units and other ancillary departments in a prompt accurate manner. Fill/dispense oral and IV medications, triaging patient orders and maintaining the integrity of the automated dispensing system (ADS).

Required Qualifications:

• H.S. Diploma or GED.
• Upon hire: New Mexico Pharmacy Technician - New Mexico Board of Pharmacy or
  • Upon hire: Texas Pharmacy Technician Trainee or
  • Upon hire: Texas Registered Pharmacy Technician License.
• Minimum of one year (> 2080 clock hours) of pharmacy practice in an integrated health system and current PTCB certification - OR - 2 years (>4160 hours) hospital pharmacy if not PTCB certified.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Coursework/Training:Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician program.
• Specialty certification (e.g. ACPE approved sterile compounding certification) where applicable by role and state.
• Previous experience with Automated Dispensing Machines (ADMs) and electronic health records (EHR).
